Dollhouse Trailer

Found this trailer on YouTube for the new Joss Whedon series that's will be coming to Fox I believe next year. I was a little surprised to learn that he was doing another series snce he was pretty annoyed with TV after the cancellation of "Firefly" and then "Angel" the next year. But I'm excited to see him back and bringing Buffy/Angel alum Eliza Duschu and Amy Acker (who was also appeared on the LOCI episode "Smile" as Leslie).

I saw this the other day, too.

Haven't been able to get into Joss Whedon but all things considered, you'd think I would be. Will have to give this a look.

Joss Whedon is one of those people that has to win you over, because at first glance his stuff is just like any other cheesey scifi show, but then when you watch them several times as I have...lol...you see new depths and forshadow to new storyarchs. And just amazing characters -- he's written some of the best characters archs ever -- i.e. Wesley, who started out on Buffy and then moved to Angel and did a complete 180 as a character, but it was done so seamlessly that you totally believe his evolution -- i could teach a class on joss whedon.

That's kind of the thing I got from Buffy. I thought it was kind of cheesy. But then I thought Xena was too until I started getting into the humor and found many other things to like about the show. LOL

Will have to keep that in mind when watching.

Xena was hilarious -- of course I think Sam Raimi is great. "The Gift" is a brillant little film of his with Cate Blancet, Giovanni Ribsi, and Keanu Reeves as a very convincing redneck. It was actually co-written by Billy Bob Thronton and was inspred by his own mother. It's a great example of a good, character driven scifi/mystery.

But with Joss Whedon, his shows get progressively more mature as you go from "Buffy" to "Angel" and to "Firefly" and "Buffy" over the seven seasons gets darker and more thematic as it moves and as the characters leave high school and have to become adults.

It's all good stuff. I think it's worth several viewings, but if it's not your thing, it's not your thing. But I will say I have seen several people who were skeptical become die-hard members of the cult of joss...lol.

I am excited about this because it's Joss and because I love Helo from BSG. I am not excited about Eliza Dushku, honestly. I loved Faith as a character, but never liked her as an actor.

I am also a little concerned over the mixed reports stating that production was shut down while Joss revamped the show. Now, this could mean he's making it better, so I'll reserve full judgment until I see it.

But am I excited to see another Joss project on TV, hells yeah!

I just hope Fox doesn't make him alter what he wants to do like they did with the "Firefly" pilot.

I could go either way with Eliza. I didn't really care for Faith, though I thought she fit better on the small stints she did on "Angel." Though I have to say she did impress me in the episode where she and buffy switch bodies -- i thought she mimiced SMG very well.
